The Beekeepers’ Report – May/June 2026

April and May were busy months in the apiary. The season began with five hives successfully overwintering, all of them looking strong and healthy. Their success also allowed for a split to be made, rebuilding the hive that had been lost in January.

On May 16th, sponsors joined us for a Build & Paint Day, helping to build new equipment and paint hive boxes for the season ahead.

Signs of the nectar flow are beginning to appear, meaning the colonies are rapidly growing and bringing in nectar that will soon be transformed into honey. A honey harvest is being planned for July, with hopes for another successful season!

The Garden Party in June will also be a great opportunity to share information about the apiary program and educate attendees about the important role honeybees play in our environment. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
